Jonathan Griffiths

Jonathan Griffiths serves as Lead Pastor of the Metropolitan Bible Church in Ottawa, Canada, sits on the Council of the Gospel Coalition Canada, and gives leadership to the Timothy Trust, which exists to promote expository Bible ministry. He loves to train and mentor developing leaders for gospel ministry. Jonathan studied theology at the University of Oxford and completed his PhD on Hebrews at the University of Cambridge. He takes a keen interest in current affairs, not least politics and economics. He and his wife, Gemma, have three children.

Christopher Ash

Christopher Ash is a preacher, teacher, and writer. After working in telecommunications and as a teacher of maths, Christopher studied theology at Oxford, where he was awarded the Denyer and Johnson prize. He was ordained and served as an Assistant Minister in St. Andrew the Great in Cambridge, before leading a church plant to All Saints, Little Shelford, in 1997. In 2004 he and his wife, Carolyn moved to London where Christopher served as Director of the Proclamation Trust’s Cornhill Training Course until July 2015.

Colin Smith

Pastor Colin Smith was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. He trained at London School of Theology, where he met his wife, Karen. He served as pastor of Enfield Evangelical Free Church in London for 16 years before coming to The Orchard in 1996. As Senior Pastor, he has brought a strong emphasis on God's Word, has helped the church develop a vision for the future and has encouraged and taught young preachers. In addition to his role at The Orchard, Colin is the Founder & Teaching Pastor of Open the Bible, a media ministry committed to sharing the gospel globally. Colin and Karen have two sons, Andrew and David.


About the Conference:

We are very excited for The Met to host our third annual Timothy Trust National Conference with Christopher Ash, Colin Smith, and Jonathan Griffiths. This conference looks to refresh and encourage Bible teachers and preachers through model expository preaching by our keynote speakers. This year’s conference will focus on the power of preaching, for faith comes by hearing the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17). Join our three-day conference on May 26-28, 2025. People flying into the Ottawa Airport (YOW) can stay at nearby hotels within driving distance of the Metropolitan Bible Church (The Met).

FAQs:

  • This conference is open to both men and women. There is a specific aim to encourage Bible teachers at any stage, whether in the home or on Sunday morning. We want to encourage current and aspiring Bible teachers.

    An example of someone who can attend would be a lay or vocational elder, a small group leader, a person in vocational ministry, a ministry leader, a missionary, a pastor, a seminary student, a university or college student, and/or a church congregant.

  • The conference will be two half days and one full day. A detailed schedule will be provided at a later date.

  • Yes, meals will be provided for the Regular Rate, Group Rate, and Student Rate.

    Snack and beverage kiosks will also be provided for all attendees. Kiosk locations will be available throughout the main level of the venue.
